Registered Nurse - Operating Room (2 years Ortho experience required)

Plainfield Surgery Center is currently seeking a part time (30 hours . Our Center operates Monday through Friday, NO CALL, NO NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS.  We are seeking candidates who can help us provide the highest quality surgical care available.

Hours: Part time, Monday through Friday, approximately 30 hours per week.  This position is benefit-eligible.

SUMMARY:

The Operating Room Nurse delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The circulating nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs as well ensuring the safety of the patient. The RN works by collaborating with other members of the team including to anesthesiologist, surgeon, surgical technologist, and other personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Adheres to the Center’s policies and procedures and the Professional Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Delivers professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during, and after procedure.
• Monitors vital signs during the procedure and documents on the OR record.
• Transports patient to the PACU post procedure.
• Prepares operating rooms for each surgical case.
• Maintains and monitors the sterile environment. Assists with room turnovers including cleaning and mopping in preparation for subsequent procedures.
• May participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Complies with all Surgery Center policies/ procedures, AORN, IDPH, CMS and other regulatory agencies, standards, and guidelines.

Requirements

• Current Illinois Nursing license required
• Current BLS certification
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to problem solve and think outside the box
• Two years orthopedic OR experience REQUIRED
