Registered Nurse - Part Time

Western Reserve Academy, a prestigious independent coed boarding and day school, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our health services team. The School Nurse will provide direct nursing care to students and respond to student health concerns. The successful candidate will utilize clinical judgment to assess, plan, and implement nursing interventions while maintaining accurate and confidential health records. The role includes supporting school-wide health initiatives and ensuring compliance with state laws, school policies, and health mandates. 

General Responsibilities:  

1. Provide direct nursing care to students in the Health Center during assigned in-clinic hours.
2. Participate in weekly on-call coverage, including a Saturday night on-call rotation, responding to student health concerns as needed.
3. Utilize clinical judgment to assess, plan, and implement appropriate nursing interventions following the "SOAPIE" nursing process.
4. Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records using Google Suite and other health documentation platforms.
5. Support school-wide health initiatives, such as August Registration Days (multiple days) and annual vision and hearing screenings. 
6. Educate students, parents, faculty, and staff on preventive health care, early intervention strategies, and wellness promotion.
7. Identify students at risk and facilitate appropriate follow-up care.
8. Ensure compliance with Ohio state laws, school policies, and health mandates.
9. Implement crisis intervention and emergency response measures when necessary.
10. Report campus safety concerns to the Director of Health Services or WRA Safety Personnel.
11. Other duties as assigned to support student health and wellness.

Minimum: 

1. Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
3. CPR Certification

Preferred: 

1. Ohio School Nurse Licensure or Certification in School Nursing
2. Experience in school nursing, public health, or community health nursing
3. CPR Instructor Certification
4. Proficiency with Google Suite and electronic health record systems
5. Strong understanding of adolescent development and health concerns
