Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented person with BIM management experience for our part-time, remote BIM Manager position to support our Theatre Consulting, Lighting Design, and Audio/Video Design teams. This is a part-time position (22-25 hours per week).
This position is fully remote but you must be located in Illinois, Texas, California, or a reciprocating state.
We are open to seeing the position eventually become full-time. The BIM Manager will be responsible for managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and workflows to ensure the successful delivery of projects in the entertainment, performing arts, and architectural sectors.
You will work with and support our designers in offices in Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco. We also share information and ideas with our offices in Minneapolis, New York, and Melbourne, Australia.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Oversee the use of BIM software company-wide, including configuring and directing support and maintenance of BIM installations
- Analyze and solve BIM user issues
- Create, update, and manage CAD and BIM libraries specific to theatre, lighting, and AV systems.
- Develop and maintain Schuler Shook CAD and BIM drafting standards for project documentation.
- Help set direction and adoption of, and compliance with, Schuler Shook drafting standards.
- Provide support and training for team members on CAD and BIM-related tools, processes, and best practices.
- Ensure project models meet client requirements and are in line with relevant BIM standards. Assist internal Schuler Shook teams with project-specific model setup and maintenance to meet client requirements.
- Assist with clash detection, coordination, and troubleshooting to resolve design conflicts within the BIM model.
- Manage project documentation processes and workflows in BIM 360 or similar cloud-based platforms.
- Maintain communication and coordination with all Schuler Shook offices.
- Provide timely as-needed BIM technical assistance to Schuler Shook teams, assisting teams in meeting project deadline requirements. Assist with internal IT helpdesk as it relates to project documentation technology.
- Maintain fluency in required software applications.
- Investigate and evaluate developing BIM-related tools and software to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work and to innovate processes and deliverables.
- Collaborate with production team to develop, deliver, and document innovative solutions for project-related modeling challenges.
- Coordinate system technical requirements with IT Manager.
- Recommend budgets and expenses related to drafting software to IT manager.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Five years’ proven experience working with CAD and BIM software (Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, etc.) in the architecture, construction, engineering, or entertainment design industries at an advanced level.
- Experience with BIM project management and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, with strong ability to organize time and workload.
- Familiarity with BIM documentation processes in AEC industry
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex BIM concepts to team members with varying levels of expertise.
- Experience and aptitude for troubleshooting model performance issues
- Detail-oriented with high standards for quality
- Ability to apply resourcefulness and creativity to technical detailing and BIM needs
- Client-centered approach to technical troubleshooting
- Proficiency in cloud hosting solutions for Revit and CAD
- Proficiency in Bluebeam REVU
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in architecture, construction, engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with theatre planning, lighting design, and audio-visual systems.
- Proficiency in Dynamo scripting for Revit or other automation tools for enhancing BIM workflows.
- Familiarity with 3D visualization tools, rendering software, or relevant plug-ins (e.g., Enscape, Lumion, 3dsMax)
- Familiarity with lighting calculation software, including AGI32.
- Familiarity with Adobe suite software (Photoshop, InDesign, etc) and similar
- Knowledge of Python and / or C++ programming languages.
- Familiarity with industry standards related to BIM (ISO 19650, COBie, etc.).
- Experience training BIM / CAD users, including development of curriculum
