Empowered Services is a One-on-One Attendant Care agency, providing ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and Community Supports for our customers in their own homes. Job Summary & Description:


Empowered Services is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Portland area. DSPs help customers live independently by assisting with daily activities, community outings, and personal goals. In this role, you will build meaningful relationships that inspire confidence, promote independence, and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living fulfilling, joyful lives.



As a DSP, you will work one-on-one with each customer to understand their unique needs, support them in achieving their goals, and provide care in a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our DSPs serve not only as caregivers but also as mentors, advocates, and trusted companions for the individuals we support.



376: This customer is a vibrant young woman who loves life, connection, and adventure! She has a big heart and a fun, creative spirit. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending church activities, worshiping, and participating in fun outings like swimming, bike riding, team sports, and dance. She also loves animals, especially horses! She enjoys baking, singing, and relaxing with her iPad to watch horse movies or dance videos.



The ideal DSP will be patient, encouraging, and willing to learn. This individual thrives when supported with clear communication, consistency, and choices that promote independence. She communicates through a mix of ASL, verbal language, and gestures, so a provider who is observant and flexible is a great fit.



Your role will include helping her navigate transitions by providing routines and previewing upcoming activities, while also fostering safe and healthy decision-making. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is fun, relational, and excited to cheer her on as she explores her interests and builds meaningful connections. 



This position will include accompanying this individual to Christian gatherings and church-related activities as part of their personal interests and community involvement.



Schedule:


A) Every night 9:00 PM to 11:59 PM


B) Mon - Fri 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM (2:1 Care) 


C) Friday 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM


D) Saturday to Sunday 9:00 PM (Sat evening) to 10:00 AM (Sun morning)

Qualifications & Requirements:



  • Experience with the I/DD community is preferred but not required. 

  • Must pass a background check. - *Not all charges will warrant a disqualification.

  • Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.  

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record. 

  • Must have your own reliable vehicle, with full coverage auto insurance.

  • Must be comfortable providing respectful support with personal care, including bathroom and hygiene.



Compensation and Benefits:



  • Starting pay ranges from $23–$25 per hour, depending on a variety of factors, including experience, certifications, and skills.

  • Full-Time (30+ hours a week) employees are eligible for:

    • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance

Responsibilities Include: 



  • Provide compassionate direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), helping them live independently and safely in their homes and communities.

  • Assist with daily living activities
    Support customers with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, exercise, communication, household tasks, and transportation to appointments or community activities.

  • Support community engagement
    Help customers participate in community outings such as shopping, recreational activities, social events, and local programs to promote independence and social connection.

  • Encourage life skills and independence
    Provide coaching and guidance with life skills, routines, social development, and goal-setting to help customers build confidence and independence.

  • Follow individualized support plans
    Implement support strategies and behavioral supports based on the customer’s individualized service plan and goals.

  • Build positive relationships
    Develop respectful, supportive relationships that promote trust, dignity, and meaningful engagement.

  • Communicate with care teams
    Maintain regular communication with County Coordinators, supervisors, and family members as appropriate. Report updates, incidents, or concerns in a timely manner.

  • Maintain health and safety
    Follow all safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe and supportive environment for customers.

  • Complete required documentation
    Accurately document services provided, progress toward goals, and daily activities according to program requirements.

  • Participate in training
    Complete required state trainings, CPR certification, and continuing education to maintain compliance and provide high-quality care.
