Your day to day as a Part-Time Regional Waste Management and Diversion Education and Outreach Coordinator



As the Part-Time Regional Waste Management and Diversion Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Capitol Region Council of Governments, you will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable practices across the CRCOG region. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing innovative educational programs focused on recycling, food waste management, and organic material diversion. You'll create engaging content in various formats-ranging from print materials to web-based resources and videos-to effectively reach diverse audiences. Your role will involve providing support for educational initiatives across schools, municipalities, and communities, as well as coordinating impactful outreach events.


Building strong partnerships with stakeholders from government, education, and private sectors will be essential as you advocate for best practices in waste management. Additionally, you will research industry trends to identify opportunities for program improvements and potential cost savings, ensuring that the region remains at the forefront of sustainable waste management solutions.

  • Municipal and/or state government waste management recycling and/or organic material programs and services especially experience in an educational setting

  • Program management and budgets especially those related to municipal government grant management and solid waste management recycling and diversion initiatives

  • Drafting educational content using various forms of media including hard copy web-based content video (YouTube) and/or social media

  • Researching and summarizing current and best practices in waste management recycling and diversion especially related to food waste/rescue and organic materials

  • Communicate with various members of the public municipal government, educational institutions, and the communities they serve especially K-12
