Soundcheck Rock Academy is experiencing unprecedented growth and we have an opportunity for several multi-instrumentalist instructors. We are a performance-based music school located in the heart of Howard County. We are seeking incredible people to give out high fives and music knowledge! Come have fun creating an exciting future for our students and our great community!
We are currently seeking (2) experienced people to teach piano/keyboards/ vocals and be a mentor and band instructors for children, teens, and adults:
- have the ability to instruct and mentor music students in a private or semi-private lesson format.
- using past knowledge and curriculum-based method books with specific methodologies and arrangements.
- to instruct students in techniques and theories needed to play their chosen instrument.
- to direct small groups in playing, performing, and recording original and cover songs.
- to support private student placement in rock bands in collaboration with the school music director and staff.
- move, set up, and break down equipment at the school and various school events
- assist management with customer service
- communicate with parents as to how students are progressing
- perform a variety of school functions when needed
- assist with moving furniture, equipment, and materials for rehearsals and in instructor room needs
- clean and maintain personal teaching room and rehearsal rooms
- maintain records in proprietary music software
Knowledge and Abilities
- Must demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to children, teens, and adults
- multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred.
- must show the ability to read music and teach music in an understandable way
- must demonstrate the ability to run basic sound equipment
- must be able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations and environments
- must be able to be physically present at the studio for scheduled lessons
- effective time management and organizational skills
- ability to operate basic office equipment photocopiers and computers
- ability to interact effectively with the public
- ability to work effectively with staff and management
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- ability to adapt to change in the workplace
- ability to pass a background check
- must be proficient in English speaking and writing skills
- additional language(s) are a plus
- ability to lift and move the equipment typically associated with all day-to-day operations, e.g., amplifiers, keyboards, recording equipment, light furniture, etc.
WHO WE ARE
Soundcheck Rock Academy in Columbia MD is a performance based music school located in the heart of Howard County. Taking inspiring music lessons at our central location in Columbia MD allows us to accommodate students from Columbia, Ellicott City and all of Howard County Maryland. Where students take lessons, join a band, rehearse and play shows! We take music lessons and incorporate a team atmosphere and learning style. Students from 6 years old to 60 and older can take lessons in: Guitar, Vocals, Piano, Keyboards, Drums, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Violin, and Saxophone. Join a real band, and play real shows and concerts! We have a variety of different experiences for everyone.
Our music approach is for students of all ages. From 6 to adults.
All of our programs are one on one lessons. Our programs can be taught one-on-one in-studio or one-on-one virtually , we can even do a hybrid of both in studio and virtually at our Howard County MD location.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The goal of our music school is to create a fun, inviting, and creative atmosphere that can help students create and learn with the help of our whole studio and performance based approach. We want students to learn from each other and our instructors. Learning life skills as they progress towards adulthood and beyond. We build the love of music and exploration, and with this approach the world of music will open.
We hire music teachers that have prestigious degrees from some of the top music programs in the country. But we also hire instructors that have played in local and national touring bands. All have been there and done it. For real.
OUR STUDIO
Soundcheck Rock Academy is a community of like minded individuals. We are a place that is open and welcoming to our students and where they can safely follow their musical journey. Our students can access any part of our school during our regular business hours. Meet other students, work on homework, grab an open room and work on creating their own original music. They can even do their homework with free wifi.
