Respitory Therapist

Description

Essential functions and basic duties. (This list may not include all of the essential functions and duties assigned.)

• Utilizes respiratory equipment in all modalities to include but not limited to: medical gases such as oxygen, aerosol treatments, according to physician orders or protocols to meet patient respiratory needs, Perform Pulmonary Function Tests, 6 minute walks, and Home Sleep Studies.
• Perform calibration, set up, maintenance and trouble shoot equipment.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary tests, taking height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, O2. 
• Verify patient information, records medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock. Request supplies as needed and verify receipts. 
• Schedule appointments, internal and external, as well as manage in basket messages. 
• Complete release of information requests in a timely manner following billing protocol when applicable. 
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, area and personal space. 
• Interact with vendors, staff, physicians, and visitors in ways that demonstrate caring and reflect professional behavior.
• Perform some general office duties such as, but not limited to, completing insurance forms and scanning documents into EMR system if necessary.
• Acts as a chaperone if a patient or physician requests.
• Performs related work assignments and special projects as assigned in the allotted time frame and reports any delays.
• Attends and participates in office meetings as scheduled.
• Stays informed of all changes in the healthcare industry and shares these changes with supervisor and other office personnel.
• Complies with all HIPAA policies and procedures ensuring confidentiality and patient privacy.
• Comply with OSHA rules and regulations.
• Complies to all company policies and office procedures.
• Triage calls for physician.
• Manage time effectively to meet patient needs and productivity standards
• Maintain professionalism and foster positive relationships with patients, families, and team members

Requirements

• Education: Certified Registered Respiratory Therapist 
• Required Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology, medical supplies and equipment. Knowledge of related computer applications.
• Experience Required: Previous related experience preferred.     
• Skills/Abilities: Able to listen and then convey information effectively. Attentive to detail and accurate with ability to multitask. Cooperative and willing to assist others. Able to use related computer applications and other office and medical equipment.
