Job Description - Ridge Street Next-Gen Coordinator - part-time - 25 hours per week
We are The Point Church of beautiful Virginia, and we’re looking for an authentic, secure Next-Gen Coordinator (part-time 25 hours per week) who will empower kids and students (and their families!) in their walks with Jesus at our Ridge Street campus.
We are well-positioned for a large-scale, fruitful Christ-filled Next-Gen ministry to take off. We are excited to welcome you as our new Next-Gen Coordinator! Your role will be to apply a strategic ministry model that equips kids and students through our discipleship pathway, The Intentional Life. This includes creating intentional content designed to help them discover their identity and purpose in Christ. We work to foster unity among kids and students by strengthening family partnerships and focusing on small group ministries. Additionally, we aim to help them grow into maturity by participating in outreach and discipleship opportunities, allowing them to operate in their unique areas of giftedness.
What your Campus looks like: We are a vibrant new campus that will launch in September 2025. We are building an active and committed Dream Team and are looking for a great team builder to launch these ministries with us. This position will launch our KidsPoint ministry, as well as our StudentLife ministry for middle school and high school students, with an emphasis on engaging in local REACH opportunities.
What are we like? We seek God’s vision, we emphasize strategic planning over aimless steps, we pray first, we grow in humility, we strive to be organized, and we constantly seek to get better.
What will this role look like?
You’ll build a culture that naturally and continually attracts kids, students, and families to the gospel at The Point while developing meaningful relationships with students and families. You’ll look for ways to be involved in students’ lives outside of church, whether through students’ school/athletic events, activities, or planned Next-Gen events.
You’ll develop and affirm leaders: You’ll welcome, train, and grow leaders with inspiration and excitement through regular meetings, opportunities to serve them, and leveraging teachable moments. You’ll foster them in their walks with Jesus and lead them in their gifts to be disciple-makers of our students!
You’ll proactively equip parents & families: Your ministry will connect holistically with the entire family. You’ll collaborate with the Ridge Street Campus Pastor and the Central Next-Gen Director to engage parents in the spiritual formation of their children.
You’ll oversee the creation of exciting Next-Gen environments & events: You’ll prepare the way for a safe, exciting, fun, and meaningful Sunday/Wednesday settings for both KidsPoint & StudentLife. You’ll anticipate program and leader needs, help develop age-specific content, and welcome first-time students & families.
Where will your time go?
In the beginning, the majority of your time will go towards launching and building KidsPoint while also hosting the occasional StudentLife gathering. As both ministries get fully off the ground, a large portion of your time will go towards StudentLife while continually improving KidsPoint.
Overall, your time will be about 50% Event and programming execution, 30% Lead and develop the Dream Team, 10% serving and ministering to kids, students & families, 10% administrative duties.
What are you like?
You have at least 3 years of ministry experience on staff working with young people.
You have demonstrated leadership qualities: you’ve grown a Next-Gen ministry in the past and can develop & train leaders. You know how to delegate, collaborate, and fine-tune effective systems.
You’re a public speaker: you can prepare Spirit-filled messages for students through teaching or preaching, you speak publicly with clarity & intention, and you make people feel comfortable. You are also able to equip others to do the same.
You are a communicator: you are organized, you respond to email/phone communications promptly (24-48 hours), you care about first impressions, and you can grow a digital presence that engages students.
You’re a disciplemaker: not only to kids and students but to their families. You are passionate about coming alongside the whole family for the betterment of their children.
You’re relational. You genuinely like kids and students, their families, and working with volunteers.
The position will be 25 hours per week. In addition to Sunday services, there will be hours agreed to between Monday and Thursday with additional scheduling based on ministry needs; weekly touchpoint meetings with your Campus Pastor, Leadership Staff, and others.
You can learn more about our church at The Point. If you feel like this is you and God has positioned you for this very place and position, we want to hear from you. We can’t wait to receive your application and connect!
