Position: Physics / AP Physics Teacher (Part-Time) Location: RISE Academy, San Jose, California (in-person) School Year: 2026–2027 Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours of teaching per week (3 block periods / week)
RISE Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physics / AP Physics Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a part-time, in-person role with a limited weekly teaching load, ideal for an educator who enjoys working with motivated students in a mission-driven environment.

Innovation: Incorporate hands-on, inquiry-based learning and integrate technology and STEAAM/STREAM principles to deepen student understanding
Professional Growth: Demonstrate a growth mindset by participating in professional development and contributing to a collaborative learning community
Community Outreach: Maintain open and proactive communication with families and participate in school-wide events and community-building initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with course goals and, where applicable, AP Physics standards and College Board expectations
Create meaningful labs, demonstrations, and inquiry-based learning experiences that build conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including implementing accommodations aligned with IEPs or learning support plans when applicable
Assess student progress through a range of formal and informal measures and provide timely feedback, reteaching, and enrichment as needed
Maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning and student development
Collaborate with colleagues on student support, interdisciplinary connections, and curriculum alignment as needed
Participate in relevant meetings and planning, proportional to the part-time schedule
Uphold the school’s values in classroom instruction and professional interactions
Support occasional school events or academic showcases connected to the course, as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Physics, Science Education, or a related field
Strong content knowledge of high school Physics and, if applicable, AP Physics (algebra-based and/or calculus-based)
Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners effectively
Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Comfort using educational technology tools and standard lab equipment safely and effectively
Commitment to fostering student growth in a values-based academic environment and alignment with RISE Academy’s mission
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field
Valid teaching credential (preferred but not required)
2+ years of experience teaching high school Physics and/or AP Physics
Familiarity with AP Physics curriculum, assessments, and College Board alignment
Demonstrated success in inquiry-based, project-based, or experiential learning environments
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom and lab setting for extended periods
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 20 pounds (lab materials and classroom supplies)
Frequent use of a computer and classroom technology (projector, document camera, online platforms)
Ability to maintain a safe, organized, hazard-free classroom and lab environment
Compensation Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, credentials, and academic background. Children of staff members may be eligible for a tuition discount.
