RN Educator

Job Summary:

The RN Educator / Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational and training programs for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Nurses (LPN/RN) working in a residential / group home setting. The role focuses on preparing staff to deliver safe and effective care, including medication administration (Med Tech training), G-Tube care, and comprehensive daily support to residents with intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and Education

• Conduct initial and ongoing training programs for DSPs in:
  
  
  
  • Medication administration (Med Tech certification)
  
  
  • Gastrostomy tube (G-Tube) feeding and care
  
  
  • Infection control and hygiene
  
  
  • Emergency response and first aid
  
  
  • Resident rights and person-centered care
  
  
  
  


• Develop and deliver hands-on clinical skills training and competency assessments.


• Maintain training records and documentation for compliance with regulatory requirements.

Resident Care Support

• Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure proper implementation of care plans.


• Provide direct nursing support as needed, including assessments, care reviews, and updates to care protocols.


• Serve as a clinical resource for complex medical needs, particularly regarding enteral feeding and medication administration.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in Virginia


• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in a residential/group home, long-term care, or assisted living setting.


• Experience in teaching or staff development strongly preferred.


• Knowledge of G-Tube care, enteral feeding protocols, and adult learning principles.


• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
