Job Description - Room Service



 


Morning Room Service & Food Runner – Join Our Team at the Portland Regency Hotel & Spa!



Schedule: Morning shifts (Monday-Friday), weekend and holiday availability, full-time or part-time flexibility.

Summary: Responsible for answering all room service calls, taking orders, preparing trays, and delivering food to guest rooms.  Responsible for retrieving all room service trays from halls and rooms. Responsible for maintaining the coffee station in the lobby, refilling coffee(s) when needed, keeping the station stocked and clean during your shift.  Removing the coffee station at 10 am daily and 11 am on weekends. Responsible for all side work requirements listed in your department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but other duties may be assigned.


 Room Service:



  1. Responsible for delivering any morning coffee calls as specified by the Front Desk.

  2. Wash/clean coffee call trays and containers.

  3. Responsible for retrieving all trays in a timely fashion.

  4. Responsible for answering and taking all phone orders.

  5. Responsible for placing orders.

  6. Setting up a tray or cart for food delivery, with all necessary utensils.

  7. Inspect all food and beverage products to ensure they meet room service specifications.

  8. Re-stocks room service area at the end of each shift.

  9. Wash/clean room service area and carts after each shift.

  10. Responsible for having knowledge of daily specials.

  11. Responsible for the delivery of all VIP orders during your shift.

  12. Run food as quickly and efficiently as possible to the restaurant or café.

  13. Responsible for assisting in bringing trays of dirty dishes and glassware from the wait station. Assisting in stocking wait station.

  14. Assist in the dining room if needed, resetting tables and seating people if needed.

  15. To communicate with the host and servers at all times.

  16. To keep all work areas clean and stocked for the next shift.

  17. Cleaning kitchen area at the end of your shift, wiping down all surface areas.

  18. Put out and refill salad dressings at the beginning of lunch and dinner shift.

  19. Clean toaster at the end of the shift (breakfast)

Qualifications



  • Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred, but we’re happy to train the right person!

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Comfortable writing basic reports or messages and speaking confidently with customers or colleagues.

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible morning shifts, including weekends.


 


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands and arms; occasional climbing or balancing.

  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs as needed.

  • Must be able to adjust focus and have close and distance vision.


 


Work Environment



  • May be exposed to wet or humid conditions, heat, and kitchen equipment.

  • Moderate noise levels typical of a restaurant environment.
