SAI - Chef at Sheetká Salmon Tales

Shee Atika Inc. is searching for a chef to fill a new role supporting our Sheet’ka Salmon Tales tours! The chef at Sheet’ka Salmon Tales will act as a representative of Shee Atiká, displaying leadership, organization, customer service and teamwork. This position plays a key role in providing an authentic Alaskan culinary experience to guests in an interactive, outdoor setting. 

This is a seasonal position that runs annually from May through September, with the current term ending in September 2025. Work hours are based on cruise ship and tour schedules to include weekends and holidays. 

The Chef will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

• Oversee all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and service to large, pre-scheduled groups
• Monitor food freshness, maintain sanitation standards, and ensure adherence to food safety regulations
• Oversee cooking safety and equipment, maintenance, cleaning, and organization
• Ensure food is prepared consistently and meets high-quality and flavor standards
• Set up and maintain an organized and sanitary kitchen and dining area
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and interacting with guests and building rapport in an interactive dining environment
• Monitor inventory and work with the Tourism Manager to order supplies and ensure timely delivery of fresh ingredients
• Daily cleanup after meal service, weekly deep cleaning of food trailer and equipment, and other kitchen duties as needed

• Candidate must have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM), or ability to obtain certification within 14 days of hire
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Enthusiasm for providing an exceptional outdoor dining experience for visitors to Sitka, Alaska
