Job Description - School Nutrition Program (SNP) Associate (Grant-funded, Part-time)

Description

KIPP Memphis Public Schools is part of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, public schools that are successful in helping students from educationally underserved communities develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits needed to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond.  There are currently 280 KIPP schools across the nation serving nearly 120,000 students.  Founded in 2002, KIPP Memphis serves over 1,800 K-12 students in our four North Memphis schools and almost 900 alumni on their journeys to-and-through college with our KIPP Forward Program.

Job Description

This entry level position is ideal for candidates seeking to learn more about accounting, financial operations, and financial reporting.  KIPP Memphis Public Schools is seeking an individual to join the team to assist with the School Nutrition Program for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Afterschool Snack Program, and Summer Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes all the School Nutrition Program (SNP) required and relevant professional development training sessions (virtual and in-person sessions)
  • Verifies monthly supporting documentation for each school from the contractor for daily meals served (includes daily meal counting forms and meal production records for all schools). 
  • Receives the monthly edit check report for each school from the contractor and matches it against the supporting documentation submitted for each day of the month.
  • Creates direct certification reports for reimbursement data and maintains internal spreadsheets of data.
  • Submits each school’s SNP claim to the State for reimbursement for each month of school meals served.
  • Reviews monthly invoices for accuracy and payment.
  • Monitor/assessment for compliance of each meal program (breakfast, lunch, and afterschool snacks).
  • Updates KIPP Memphis Nutrition website as needed.
  • Coordinates with schools to update the annual Wellness Policy required by SNP.
  • Assists with budget details for financial reports.
  • Assists with completion of state reports.
  • Procures all goods and services for KIPP SNP (which includes bids and all solicitations required).

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma; GED equivalent REQUIRED

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP Memphis’s mission and values.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP software.
  • Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors.
  • Knowledge of creating and using spreadsheets.
  • Proven work experience in procuring goods and services (bids and quotes)
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail
  • Friendly and approachable 
  • High energy, positivity and enthusiasm to encourage and inspire 
  • Ability to manage stressful or complex situations with calm, composure and resourcefulness
  • Flexibility and willingness to contribute when necessary on projects outside of own caseload 
  • Ability to work well with others and build relationships within and across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities

Additional Hours

Work Hours

  • 20 hours per week

Salary

  • Salary Range:  $20 - $25/hr
    • Salary commensurate with education and experience
