Security Officer

Omni-Serv is in search of a  SORA certified security professionals for Newark Liberty International Airport to secure construction enclosures within the terminal areas. We are looking for candidates who can maintain a professional demeanor, is a team player, and have a positive, “can do” attitude.

Job Summary

Performs all duties related to monitoring and escorting non-cleared visitors and personnel while in controlled access areas (CAA) or other designated locations throughout the airport facilities and grounds. Security Officers are responsible for ensuring that no sensitive material leaves the site and no unauthorized persons gain access.

Various Shifts Available

• 12 hour shift
• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

Compensation: $20.50 per hour

Escorting Duties/Responsibilities

• Escort all non-cleared visitors, personnel, janitorial/maintenance crews, and/or contractors performing work in secure areas of the airport as directed by the supervisor to ensure that secure areas remain uncompromised
• Monitor the movement of tools and materials being brought into controlled access areas, ensuring all items are cleared by designated security personnel before entry
• Maintain control and safe operation of job-related equipment and supplies
• Respond to emergency authorities, examining doors and gates to ensure security 
• Prepare and submits incident reports of any work-related problems or security incidents to the appropriate sections
• Ensure access points are secured

Fire Guard Duties/Responsibilities

• Stand fire watch in and around active construction sites
• Identify and report fire hazards
• Deliver tools and materials throughout airport terminals
• Patrol and secure assigned areas of the airport
• Respond to emergencies and alert appropriate authorities
• Examine doors and gates to ensure security

• Excellent time-management
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must be dependable and flexible on availability
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Prompt to emergency response 

Required Education and Experience

• Must have a valid SORA License
• Previous security experience is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

• Security Officers are required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
