Security Specialist I - DEVCOM

Job Summary:

The Security Specialist will provide Personnel Security Support as outlined below.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create, edit, and format correspondences.
• Process visitor requests (VARs).
• Database management for C5ISR Center G-2 as needed, including manipulation, mining, reviewing and editing of findings to support the preparation of responses to inquiries from HQ.
• Provide support to functions pertaining to the management of MIL and CIV clearances. 
• Facilitate out-processing.
• NATO-S (briefs and debriefs).
• Prescreening of job applicants and coordinate issuance of interim security clearances. 
• Determine the employment eligibility of potential new hires by reviewing clearance eligibility request forms and reports of background investigations, identifying the presence, absence or mitigation of derogatory information following the 13 adjudicative guidelines. 
• Review questionnaire answers, statements of personal history, and other related data prior to starting a formal background check. 
• Verify clearance levels and self-reported information as well as Interim and SCI nominations.
• Initiate security clearance actions for employees to retain employment with the agency, including interim and SCI nomination.
• NDA briefs and debriefs.
• Provide support to SSR and ASSR.
• Maintain personnel files and records (CIV & MIL).
• Act as the organization’s Defense Information Security System (DISS) Account Manager for two parent Security Management Office (SMO) codes and several child SMOs. 
• Provide in-house DISS training and guidance. 
• Manage reports run within the DISS system, notifications, and incident reports as well as Research, Rectify, and Update (RRU) requests. 
• Responsible for Entrance on Duty (EOD) determinations and providing hiring recommendations. 
• Coordinate/communicate with DCSA CAS.
• SCIF Support (when required).
• Suitability/Supervision of Minors.
• MIL School Cadet support (yearly).
• Create, review and/or modify workflows.
• Create, review, and/or modify trainings/presentations.
• Create/write announcements (notifications) to the workforce and outside agencies.
• Input CSRs in DISS.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Education:

• High-School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Security Specialist or Facility Security Officer on or for a Government entity.
• Previous Experience with DISS.

Security Requirement:

• TS/SCI clearance required or hold TS if eligible for SCI.
