Senior Center Program Assistant
This position is 20 hours weekly and is in person.
Qualifications:
Two years of experience in Gerontology or a related field.
Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation.
Good interpersonal skills, organizational skills, strong computer skills, excellent communication skills, and can work as part of a team or independently.
Possess the ability to lift, bend, and push a minimum of 10 lbs. without difficulty is required.
Responsible to:
Center Manager, Deputy Director and Executive Director
Nature of Job:
Assist the Center Manager with the day-to-day management of the Center. This position will be based at a Senior Center and may require rotating between other Senior Centers as needed to perform the duties of the Senior Managers in their absence.
Skills:
- Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and enjoy working with them.
- Ability to be sensitive to the needs of older adults and their health issues.
- Ability to be patient, flexible and innovative.
Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the following duties will be performed:
- Perform the duties of the Center Manager in their absence
- Greet participants and visitors
- Answer phones/ filing
- Order congregate meals and maintain reservation system
- Maintain sign-in sheets (back up for congregate, attendance and census reports)
- Group service logs/activities including volunteer report
- Transportation forms
- Potential member enrollment (30-day trial period)
- Assumes responsibility for special projects and other job duties assigned by the Center Manager
- Complete CPR/AED Training
- All other duties as assigned.
