Job Description - Server

Description

Beacon Corner Bar is a seafood restaurant serving coastal and land fare. The concept was inspired by spending summers off of Long Island in a clamming and fishing community. Serving seafood from the three coasts, East, West, and Michigan, Beacon Corner Bar will have new twists on traditional seafood classics, boils, and handhelds for our non-seafood-eating friends.

 

Join us in creating a unique dining experience located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. San Chez Restaurants puts an emphasis on creating a welcoming and warm work environment, where we treat our employees just like our guests. We pride ourselves on our hands-on training where we can ensure all of our employees are set up for success. This company allows for growth and promotion as we strive to promote from within. 

This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all patrons. The ability to muli-task in a high-volume environment is a must. This position is responsible for providing attentive service throughout the guest’s dining experience by accurately taking and communicating the guest’s order and following up on guest requests. Maintaining accurate guest checks and managing cash and credit transactions. 

Requirements

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a server or in a similar customer service role is preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to memorize menus and understand menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and making change.
  • Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Familiarity with Toast POS system is a plus.
  • Understanding of various cuisines and ability to describe menu items accurately.

  • Friendly, outgoing, and approachable demeanor.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to carry heavy trays and lift up to 25 pounds.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, present menus, and explain daily specials.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen staff.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in regularly and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the dining area.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other restaurant staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down dining areas as needed.
