Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Server to join our team! The Server is the face of our restaurant and plays an integral role in our customer’s dining experience. You will build rapport with customers, answer questions about the menu, take orders, and serve food and drinks. The ideal candidate is friendly, outgoing, and has fantastic attention to detail.
Description of Our Restaurant and Our Needs:
We are a Japanese restaurant with a 10-seat sushi bar and 10 tables. We are open 6 days a week, offering lunch on weekdays only, and closed Mondays. We are looking for a server to work Wednesday and Friday dinner shifts, with the possibility of picking up additional shifts. Dinner shifts are 430pm-930pm.
Responsibilities:
- Take food and beverage orders from customers and enter into POS system
- Answer questions about the menu and preparation
- Provide accurate orders to the kitchen staff
- Check with customers periodically during their meals to ensure they are satisfied
- Provide customers with their checks at the end of the meal and process payment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a server is required
- Experience as a server at a sushi restaurant or Japanese restaurant highly preferred
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and carrying trays
- Familiarity with food safety guidelines
- California Food Handlers Certification and ABC Alcohol Server Certification will be required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
