Job Description - Special Education Teacher of Record (SPED TOR)

Are you passionate about education and supporting 2^nd chance opportunities for Indiana adults? The Excel Center Evansville Southeast believes in transforming lives through the power of education, and as our Special Education Teacher of Record (Sped TOR), you’ll play a pivotal role in the educational success of Excel Center students with disabilities. The Sped TOR is responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in accordance with the student’s Individual Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan for adult students.

What You’ll Do:
As the Sped TOR, you will oversee and manage services and programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding students with disabilities. This position will work closely with instructional staff to provide guidance on accommodations and modifications to support the success of students with diverse needs.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Curriculum Planning & Evaluation: Designs and implements curricula and assessments that meet academic standards and measure progress towards student mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Scholars.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Works with instructional team and students to develop compliant and comprehensive transition plans.
Compliance & Regulations: Maintains accurate and compliant student records (IEPs and 504s) and prepares documentation as required by law.
Guidance & Professional Development: Works closely with the school director and lead teacher to establish and execute school-wide objectives. Supports staff through professional development, training initiatives, and goal-setting processes

What You’ll Bring:

Experience: Bachelor’s degree in special education and a current Indiana Teaching Certification in Special Education-Mild and/or Intense Intervention.
Skills: Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Student Information Systems.
Values: A commitment to integrity, service excellence, and collaborative leadership, alongside flexibility to support occasional evenings, weekends, and travel needs.
