Special Education Tutor (8th Grade – English, Science, History)
Encinitas, CA | Multiple Daytime Sessions Weekly

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Tutor to support an 8th grade student in Encinitas who is working about two grade levels behind. The student needs help in English, Science, and History with multiple sessions each week during daytime hours.

The ideal tutor will have experience working with students with dyslexia and ADHD, and will be able to provide structured, engaging lessons that build both academic skills and confidence.

What You’ll Do

  Provide individualized tutoring in English, Science, and History

  
  


• 
  

  Adapt instruction for a student with dyslexia and ADHD, using strategies that support attention and learning differences

  
  


• 
  

  Break down material into manageable steps and reinforce skills through repetition and practice

  
  


• 
  

  Encourage academic growth while building confidence and motivation

  
  


• 
  

  Communicate progress and strategies with family and our team

  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 
  

  Experience with Special Education (SPED), learning differences, or working with students with dyslexia/ADHD

  
  


• 
  

  Background in tutoring or teaching English, Science, and History at the middle school level

  
  


• 
  

  Patient, empathetic, and highly organized

  
  


• 
  

  Available for multiple daytime sessions each week

  
  


• 
  

  Must have reliable transportation to travel to the student’s home in Encinitas

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or related field preferred

  
  


• 
  

  Prior tutoring, classroom, or SPED experience required

  
  


• 
  

  Strong communication and interpersonal skills
