Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Special Inspector to join our team in New York City. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of performing field inspections as outlined in Chapter 17 of the NYC Building Code.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of structural and construction work by approved plans and the NYC Building Code (Chapter 17).
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports.
- Maintain professional communication with team members, clients, and contractors.
- Ensure work complies with industry codes and safety standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other inspectors as part of a high-performing team.
- Willingness to obtain additional certifications as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in NYC construction inspection.
- Familiarity with NYC DOB regulations and inspection procedures.
Certifications (at least one of the following preferred):
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I
- ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector (CCI or ACCSI)
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Associate (CAWI)
- ICC Concrete, Soils, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, or Pre-Stressed Concrete Special Inspector
- ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety
- Fall Protection, Scaffolding & Ladders, and Work-Zone Safety
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
