POSITION PURPOSE: To care for and nurture the children and adults with special needs placed in CPC’s Special Needs Ministry program on a Sunday morning.

DIRECT REPORT: Director of Special Needs Ministry

POSITION OUTCOMES/EXPECTATIONS:

• Provide a hospitable place for families and children and adults with special needs assigned to your care  
• Engage with parents as they drop off and pick up their  to warrant their peace and confidence in leaving their child(ren) or adult in the ministry’s care
• Partner with the team to ensure the areas the ministry uses are set up appropriately and then after the event or worship are cleaned up
• Partner with the families to learn what triggers the child or adult may have and best strategies to address any behaviors
• Supervise and care for all children and adults in the ministry by providing physical and emotional care and safety
• Adhere to the morning routine and schedule for the children and adults with special needs
• Engage the child/student/adult in interactive play and learning activities as appropriate for their age and developmental level
• Adhere to all safety and security procedures for child/student/adult safety
• Attend any training or further education as offered or deemed necessary by CPC

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education

• High School diploma

Experience

• Care of the special needs population preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to act in a kind and loving manner to all of those in the ministry (families and participants)
• Organized
• Punctual
• Must be able to lift 30 lbs
• Must be able to stand for long increments of time - up to 4 hours consecutively

Requirements

All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the school, CPC Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith. All employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
