Job Description - Specialist, Pre-Open Sales and Events

Part-time, Temporary

Description

About Bouldering Project

Bouldering Project is more than a climbing gym—we’re a community. We’re driven by a shared belief: that climbing, movement, and connection should be accessible to everyone. From first-timers to seasoned climbers, families to fitness enthusiasts, and our own teammates—we create inclusive, inspiring spaces where people move, grow, and belong. With world-class climbing, yoga and fitness offerings, and welcoming community spaces, we’re proud to serve 14 locations in nine markets across the U.S.—and we’re just getting started.

About the Role

As a Membership Ambassador (Pre-Opening) at our new St. Paul location, you will play a key role in building our community before the gym even opens. You will be the first point of contact for future members, sharing the vision of Bouldering Project and helping people join as founding members. Through outreach, events, and one-on-one connections, you’ll represent the heart of our mission: creating meaningful spaces for people to move, connect, and grow together.

What You’ll Do

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Achieve and exceed presales membership targets.
  • Promote Bouldering Project throughout the St. Paul community.
  • Host engaging events for prospective and founding members.
  • Enroll new members in-person at the presales center and over the phone.
  • Manage and track presales leads with care and accuracy.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with founding members and community partners.
  • Support outreach events, including hardhat tours and community gatherings.

Requirements

 What You’ll Bring

  • Outgoing, approachable personality and a passion for community building.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort speaking with individuals and groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for engaging with new people every day.
  • Adaptability and drive to work in a dynamic, start-up style environment.
  • Interest in climbing, fitness, or community-building a plus.

Working at Bouldering Project

At Bouldering Project, we aim to cultivate excitement for movement, belonging, and community. We lead by example—making our spaces and offerings accessible and welcoming to all. Our core values—Inclusive, Quality-Obsessed, Local at the Core, and Growth-Oriented—are expected to be demonstrated in both leadership and daily operations. These values guide how we build community, deliver exceptional experiences, and continually evolve together.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a Temporary, Non-Exempt role created to fuel the energy and momentum leading up to our grand opening. The position will wrap up once the gym officially opens, and it’s also a powerful entry point into the Bouldering Project community. While we can’t guarantee continued employment, new opportunities regularly open up across our gyms—and team members who start in pre-sales are encouraged to grow with us in other roles. If you’re excited to stay connected, you’ll have the opportunity to apply to vacancies as they come up and continue your journey with BP.

  • Schedule: Part-time, 20–30 hours per week, with a mix of evenings, weekends, and occasional nontraditional hours depending on programming and community needs
  • Hourly Pay: $18–$19 per hour
  • Perks: Free gym membership for you and a plus-one, plus gear and merchandise discounts in-store and with local partners
  • Bonus Structure: Performance bonuses based on membership sales goals. Payouts are split—50% upon hitting the milestone and 50% after the first billing cycle (about one-month post-opening).

Equal Opportunity Bouldering Project is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds—including those with nontraditional career paths—to apply.
