Job Description - Speech Language Pathologist

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our Colleton County School District team. The SLP will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in students from preschool through high school. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' communication skills and overall academic success. This position will be part-time, up to 16 hours per week, and candidate must be located within Colleton County.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid South Carolina Speech-Language Pathologist license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or clinical setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy plans.
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education regulations and IEP processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct speech and language evaluations to assess students' needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students with speech and language disorders.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual or small group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support students' communication goals.
  • Monitor and document students' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress, and assessments.
  • Stay current with best practices, new research, and professional development in speech-language pathology.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as district policies and procedures.
