Job Type: Part-Time (Contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our educational team in Grove Hill. This part-time role is essential for helping students in Clarke County overcome communication barriers that impact their learning and social development. Working in a rural school setting, you will be a key advocate for students with diverse needs, from early childhood through high school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Student Therapy: Provide targeted speech and language therapy to students with articulation, fluency, voice, and language disorders as specified in their IEPs.
  • IEP Development: Lead and participate in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, including drafting measurable goals and attending meetings with parents and educators.
  • Evaluations: Administer standardized assessments to identify communication disorders and determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with classroom teachers to integrate communication strategies into the daily curriculum and support "push-in" therapy models where appropriate.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise and timely records of student progress and service minutes using the Alabama-mandated SETS (Special Education Tracking System).
  • Supervision (If Applicable): Provide clinical guidance to Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) or Clinical Fellows (CFYs) if required by the district.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Licensure: * Active Alabama State License (ABESPA).
    • Current ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A).
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Alabama Special Education rules and IDEA regulations.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a mandatory Alabama State Department of Education background check and fingerprinting.
  • Soft Skills: Strong independent work ethic and the ability to build rapport with families in a small-town community.

Why Grove Hill?

Grove Hill offers a close-knit community atmosphere where school staff are highly valued. This part-time position provides a flexible schedule and the opportunity to focus on clinical results without the overwhelming caseloads often found in larger urban districts.
