School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Chickasaw, AL (Chickasaw City Schools)

Compensation: $36.00 / Hour

Job Type: Part-Time (Contract)

Job Summary

Chickasaw City Schools is seeking a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide part-time services to our students. Unlike larger county systems, Chickasaw offers a tight-knit educational environment where you can truly get to know your students and their families. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating communication disorders, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Therapy: Provide individualized and group therapy sessions for students (Pre-K through 12) with speech and language impairments.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Administer diagnostic tests to identify students with communication disorders and determine their eligibility for special education services.
  • IEP Management: Lead the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); document student progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborative Support: Serve as a consultant to teachers and parents, offering classroom strategies and home-based activities to reinforce therapy goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain meticulous records in accordance with Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) standards, specifically utilizing the SETS documentation system.
  • Hearing Screenings: Coordinate or assist with annual hearing screenings to identify potential auditory barriers to learning.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Licensure: * Active Alabama State License (ABESPA).
    • Valid ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A).
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is highly preferred; Clinical Fellows (CFY) with strong references may be considered.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting diverse assessments and implementing evidence-based interventions.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of the ALSDE-required background check and fingerprinting.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique needs of coastal Alabama school communities is a plus.

The Chickasaw Advantage

Working in Chickasaw means being part of a "City School" culture—meaning more direct access to administration, faster decision-making for student needs, and a strong sense of community pride. This part-time role allows for a flexible professional schedule while remaining at the heart of student development in Mobile County.
