Job Description - Staff Nurse

Description

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a fast-paced, community-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to fostering the integration of the low-income, Pan-Asian immigrant and refugee community into the United States. Established in 1981, CMAA has been a cornerstone of the Uptown community, providing programming for generations of low-income youth, adults, and senior citizens. We offer direct services, including afterschool & youth mentorship programming, job training & placement, elder care services, and social services such as citizenship & housing services.

Requirements

Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members.

  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
  • Provide nursing services ( health education, health monitoring, health consultation)
  • Implements and ensures that medication management plans are executed in accordance with the Administrative code.
  • Develop individualized care plan in consultation with the Adult Day Services team
  • Participate in Quality assurance plans
  • Plan and implement the highest quality health services
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; follows nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of nursing, State Nurse Practice Act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Provide emergency services during programming

Qualifications

  • RN or LPN license required in Illinois
  • Bilingual preferred in Lao or Spanish
  • Have a passion for working with the geriatric population
  • Well-organized and EHR proficient

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
