GENERAL RESPONSBILITIES:
The Pharmacist will perform pharmacy work, such as drug selection, compounding and dispensing, bulk compounding of pharmaceutical and stock preparation. Provides information and consultative services to the medical staff on drugs, their characteristics, dosage, indication, contraindications, adverse reactions, availability of alternative medications, etc. Maintains control and security of narcotics and other controlled substances.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:
1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
4. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.
DUTIES:
1. Supervise the preparation and filling of prescriptions.
2. Dispense medications to the patients and provide appropriate counseling. This will include all areas of Pharmacy workflow such as data entry, resolution, product dispensing, 2 step verification, release, point of sale, and consultation.
3. Answer physician phone calls to the Pharmacy Department.
4. Inventory procurement and control of medications and supplies dispensed by the Pharmacy Department. This includes:
5. Provide billing information for use by the Finance Department for medications and supplies dispensed.
6. Set up and provide clinical services in such programs like tobacco cessation, CMR/MTM, pain management/opioid stewardship, and antimicrobial stewardship.
7. Maintain emergency medications for the Emergency Cart.
8. Assist in the compilation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual statistics for management and other agencies.
9. Conduct medication in services and collaborate with medical/dental teams as requested by for Health Center staff.
10. Act as Pharmaceutical Chief in absence of Director.
11. Consult with and refer patients to other health care providers when necessary to optimize patient care.
12. Provides input and may evaluate and provide supervision and direction to Pharmacy Technician, Clerks and interns.
13. Participated in continuing education programs to stay abreast of new developments and trends in pharmacy science and medicine.
14. Must maintain an acceptable department attendance record.
15. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
16. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
17. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
18. 3 years of US Pharmacy related experience preferred. Examples include: Retail Pharmacy, reviewing and optimizing pharmaceutical treatment plans by collaborating with medical staff making supportable clinical recommendations, serving as a clinical pharmacist to a medical home care team, providing anticoagulation services, providing tobacco cessation services, opioid stewardship, performing clinical pharmacist duties of chronic care management utilizing granted medical staff privileges; providing population health care and preventative health.
19. Board certification in ambulatory care pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, infectious disease pharmacy, and/or pharmacotherapy specialist preferred.
20. National certificate in tobacco treatment practice preferred.
21. Opioid stewardship and/or pain management experience preferred.
22. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
2. Licensure: All applicants must have passed the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLAX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE). Applicants also must be licensed to practice in the State, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States (Wisconsin License Preferred)
3. Must have a license in good standing to practice Pharmacy.
4. Must have strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
5. Must be able to function independently.
6. Knowledge of Indian Health Service (IHS) guidelines, regulations, and procedures preferred.
7. 3 years US Pharmacy related experience preferred.
8. Board certification in ambulatory care pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, infectious disease pharmacy, and/or pharmacotherapy specialist preferred.
9. National certificate in tobacco treatment practice preferred.
10. Opioid stewardship and/or pain management experience preferred.
11. Must be able to communicate well and relate to public.
12. Working Knowledge of computers required.
13. Must be dependable and be able to maintain confidentiality.
14. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
15. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
16. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
17. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
18. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
19. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
