This is a flexible role ideal for actors, performers, educators, or individuals interested in medical education. Training is provided—no prior medical experience required.

About the Role
Standardized Patients accurately portray patients, family members, or other roles in simulated clinical encounters with student doctors. SPs help create realistic learning experiences by demonstrating specific behaviors, emotions, and medical symptoms and by providing structured feedback to students. Interactions may occur live or be recorded for educational use and take place in exam rooms, inpatient/outpatient settings, or other simulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and participate in simulation events using provided case scripts.
  • Accurately portray assigned roles and remain in character during interactions.
  • Recall encounter details and provide objective feedback using standardized tools.
  • Participate in required training sessions and occasional mentorship.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and strict confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Acting, theatre, film, or performance experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and emotional maturity.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or in teams.
  • Ability to travel to campus and simulation locations as needed.
Physical & Medical Considerations
  • Some simulations include minimal medical examination techniques (e.g., pulse checks, joint or muscle examinations).
Schedule & Location
  • Part‑time, PRN (schedule varies by course needs).
  • Work performed primarily on campus in Provo, Utah.
Why Join Us
  • Help to shape the next generation of physicians through impactful, hands-on education.
