Job Title: Part-Time Sterile Technician (Housekeeping)

Department: Sterile Processing / Environmental Services
Schedule: Part-time, Monday–Friday, Evening Shift
Location: Lafayette, Louisiana

Job Summary

The Part-Time Sterile Technician (Housekeeping) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within sterile processing and designated hospital areas. This role supports infection prevention efforts by ensuring proper cleaning, disinfection, and handling of equipment and workspaces during evening hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect sterile processing areas, equipment rooms, and assigned hospital departments according to hospital and regulatory standards


• Perform routine housekeeping tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, waste removal, and surface disinfection


• Follow established infection control, safety, and sterilization support procedures


• Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous and non-hazardous waste


• Restock cleaning and sanitation supplies as needed


• Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors promptly


• Follow all hospital policies, HIPAA guidelines, and OSHA safety standards


• Work independently while also supporting the sterile processing and environmental services teams

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• Previous housekeeping, hospital, or sterile processing experience preferred but not required


• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and infection control practices is a plus


• Ability to follow detailed instructions and hospital protocols


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods


• Can pass Background check and Drug screening


• Reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 30–50 lbs


• Prolonged standing and walking
