Strength Training & Conditioning Instructor

Valley Christian High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Strength Training & Conditioning Instructor with demonstrated experience in high school sports-specific training, both in the weight room and on the field or court. This position plays a key role in the athletic development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement of student-athletes across multiple sports programs. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for training excellence, a deep understanding of athletic conditioning, and a commitment to fostering student growth through physical development. The Strength Training & Conditioning Instructor must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting Valley Christian's Statement of Faith and mission statements. 

Role and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to on-season and out-of-season sports
• Lead group and individual training sessions for high school athletes in the weight room and on the field or court
• Collaborate with coaches to align training with team goals, competition schedules and sport demands
• Monitor athlete progress and adjust programming based on performance and recovery
• Educate athletes on proper technique, recovery strategies and sports nutrition basics
• Ensure safety and proper equipment usage in all training environments
• Coordinate with certified athletic trainer on injury modifications and rehab
• Exercise open and respectful communication with students, families, co-workers, and supervisors
• Adhere to and honor Valley Christians standards, policies, procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Perform other related assigned duties

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that serves as a consistent testimony to others

• Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school’s Mission & Beliefs.
• Ability to navigate digital mapping system (ATLAS) and work with teaching standards
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
• Ability to multi-task with organization and without direct supervision
• Meets deadlines; completes work in a timely manner; strives to increase productivity and establish/maintain academic systems
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with outside vendors and businesses
• Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
• Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver license

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field (required).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in strength and conditioning for high school athletics.
• Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, NASM-PES, or USAW) preferred.
• Strong understanding of sport-specific demands and periodization.
• Excellent communication, motivation, and leadership skills.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with multiple sports (e.g. football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, track & field)
• Ability to mentor student-athletes on mental toughness and sportsmanship
• Familiarity with athletic performance tracking tools and technology 

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
• Must be able to work during prolonged periods of standing and walking at events
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events
