Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.
Student Success Advocate and Culture & Climate Specialist
Salary for new-to-DLS employees will start at $50,000-$51,000 per year for 1.0 FTE; part-time is negotiable for an outstanding candidate.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Campus Principal, and/or designate, the Student Success Advocate serves a vital role in ensuring the primacy of learning within the environment. The appointee will serve as part of a strong and experienced Student Support Team at the Whiteman campus of Denver Language School. The ideal candidate will have documented career history with elementary students, the select panel has particular interest in hearing from those with experience working with children aged 5-8 years old in the recent past. The appointee will be directly responsible for managing the Whiteman campus Restorative Justice Practitioner/Assistant.

Pay and Benefits:
- Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The salary range for this role is $50,000-$51,000 annually, paid monthly from August through July;
- 10 days of PTO with an option to roll up to 6 days to the following school year;

Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Assistant Principal in leading our school's PBIS program including teaching school-wide expectations, managing school-wide and individual incentive programs.
- Track data and organize materials used for the monthly assemblies.
- Assess recess needs and foster a safe play environment for students.
- Lead academic initiatives such as Read Across the World Challenge and 3rd/4th Grade Battle of the Books.
- Assist Social Workers with BESS Groups.
- Lead skill building groups, 2-3 times per week, in the areas of social skills, conflict resolution, and self-regulation for Tier 2 students in K-4, specifically with our incoming kinders and 1st graders.
- Proactive push-in support for K-1 classrooms to support student behavior and student regulation needs.
- Work with Restorative Practices Assistant to lead PD related to restorative conferences and community circles for all staff.
- Assist Assistant Principal with setting school-wide expectations during the first two weeks of school, known as the Dolphin Way.
- Lead Social-Emotional learning initiatives through use of the Character Strong curriculum.
- Attend DPS provided Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and De-escalation Training.
- Participate in weekly Student Support Team meetings and offer insights on strategies to support student behavior.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Teaching or education related license preferred
- Three or more years working in an elementary school setting
- Minimum two or more years of experience in a management or supervisory role
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc.
- Knowledge of student behavior management techniques
- Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and ability to engage in dispute resolution
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work as needed; be willing to manage and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
