Who We Serve: EMT serves organizations in the St. Louis, Missouri metro and surrounding areas, including neighboring areas in Illinois, as well as Cumberland, Maryland. These organizations include school districts, hospitals, doctor's offices, and more. We also transport individuals and families to and from appointments or simply when they need a ride.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Transportation Aide to support the safe and efficient transportation of students. The ideal candidate will possess emotional maturity, patience, and a genuine desire to assist students in their daily commute. This position is specifically designed to foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for individuals with developmental disabilities primarily school-aged minors and the elderly.
Job Responsibilities of the Student Transportation Aid:
Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on timeliness and safety.
Previous knowledge of the functionality of special equipment, such as wheelchair lifts and securement systems, preferred.
Effective communication skills
Patience and understanding when working with people with a wide range of disabilities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
Familiarity with safety protocols and evacuation procedures
Capability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors in a calm and safe manner.
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules.
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work cooperatively with drivers to ensure passenger safety.
Understanding of and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the transportation of individuals with disabilities
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to pass a fingerprint background check and DOT 10-panel drug screening.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on safety, respectful, compassionate service and timeliness.
Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
Must have the physical ability to assist passengers with mobility needs, including the physical ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
