Job Summary: 

The Sunday Kids Coordinator is ultimately responsible for onboarding and scheduling volunteers for Cottage Grove Kids’ Sunday morning classrooms.  This includes creating schedules, filling in gaps, and finding substitutes for volunteers when they are unable to find a sub on their own. 

This is a part-time position, which in this context, means 10-12 church related hours a week.  

Essential Duties:

  • Embody Cottage Grove’s Values and Staff Marks
  
  
  • Participate in the Cottage Grove ministry activities (Sunday mornings, connection groups, etc)
    
    
    
    • Sunday work hours will be limited to two services
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

• Create Sunday Morning Kids’ Schedule
  
  
  
  • Work with the Kids’ Ministry Leader to determine who is a part of the current Kids’ ministry volunteer team and what cadence volunteers will be onboarded and offboarded
  
  
  • Utilize Planning Center to create and communicate schedules 
  
  
  • Create and communicate a process and expectations for volunteers that will have them carry the majority of the weight of finding a sub when needed
  
  
  • Find last minute subs when needed
  
  
  • Schedule volunteers for other church wide services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, etc) 
    
  
  
  
  


• Child Dedication
  
  
  
  • Create and manage the registration page for Child Dedications
  
  
  • Create certificates, order gifts or other materials needed for Child Dedications
    
  
  
  
  


• Onboarding
  
  
  
  • Welcome new volunteers to CGC Kids' ministry and ensure that they have base- level training for the role they will be filling
  
  
  • Ensure that all CGC Kids' volunteers have had an up-to-date background check
  
  
  • Help recruit volunteers for CGC Kids' ministry
  
  
  
  

Celebrated Outcomes:

• All available
  CGC Kids’ classrooms are fully “staffed” on Sunday mornings without having to pull extra volunteers from the staff and Elder teams


• Volunteers know what is expected of them as a CGC Kids’ volunteer and how to meet those expectations


• Volunteers are a significant part of ongoing recruiting efforts
