Job Description - Supply Chain Specialist

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs a variety of duties in the training of material handlers: operating the palletizer, physically moving pallets and product around warehouse space; provide product to our customer in a timely manner; properly maintaining all documentation and equipment; and assist with our Quality Department as needed. To assist with the incoming of all new hires for this role and record all employee performances of new and existing employees in a matrix. To communicate with supply chain about the individual performances and provide recommendations based on knowledge and daily tasks performed. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • To train the Packaging Technician Daily Task List to all Material Handlers in the role.
  • To keep an accurate and updated log on the performance matrix, to see where attention is needed.
  • To train all Material Handlers on the process flow from unloading of palletizer to shipping product, and all procedures in-between.
  • Monitors power equipment and conducts daily inspections. Follow maintenance and inspection check list looking for any apparent need for equipment repair before operation.
  • To communicate with the shift supervisor on operator progress and provide feedback about employee performance.
  • Train to the importance of FIFO (First in First Out)
  • Do a daily walk in the palletizer area, making sure everything is in its proper place, and supplies are filled and are clean/free of food and trash, notify supervisor of standards that need to be upheld.
  • Rebuild/Build new pallets when needed.
  • Use of RFID System to create, record and ship products, help troubleshoot if needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in your assigned area as needed and directed by the Supply Chain Manager. Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Follow company policies, procedures and comply with standard safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform as a team-player and proactively supporting the continuous improvement process by attending workshops, developing, and adjusting standard work instructions, and taking part in problem solving meetings and helping to find root causes.
  • Support in developing and improving their own work environment to reach the target of 80% OEE.
  • Adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and follow all safety processes and protocols.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To attend a weekly training meeting with other department trainers, provide insight and engagement on how to better the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent; minimum 1 year of manufacturing work environment preferably
  • Computer skills, Word, Excel, Power Point, able to maintain documentation and alter/update if needed.
  • Team player, dedicated to overall company performance and the ability to get along with others.
  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm and drive; able to work independently as needed.
  • Ability to work various shifts to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Reliable attendance on-site required.
  • Must be at least 18 years or older.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and bend and twist at the waist.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Ability to communicate and listen.
  • Occasionally required to sit or crawl.
  • Close vision depth perception, and ability to adjust focus is required.
  • Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Must have the ability to lift and /or move objects ranging between 10lbs-50lbs.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects with the use of a pallet jack that weighs more than 1000lbs.
  • Ability to operate power equipment such as sit-down forklift, lift truck, reach truck and manual pallet jack.
