SVkids Ministry Apprenticeship (Two-Year Program) Severns Valley Baptist Church

Is God calling you into ministry of any kind? Whether that’s leading in a local church, owning a coffee shop that serves your community, teaching in a classroom, or serving overseas, the SVkids Ministry Apprenticeship is designed to equip you for whatever calling God has placed on your life. This two-year, discipleship-based ministry residency helps you grow spiritually, gain hands-on experience, and prepare for your next steps.
Position Type:
- Two-Year Apprenticeship
- Part-Time: Up to 30 hours/week
- Free housing provided
- Seminary master’s degree from Southern Seminary (Bachelor’s degree required to qualify)
Program Emphasis:
- Deep spiritual growth through intentional discipleship and mentoring
- Hands-on ministry leadership experience
- Personal formation and calling development tailored to your journey
What You’ll Do:
- Serve in all areas of SVkids ministry (birth–5th grade)
- Help lead Sunday morning programming, VBS, camps, and special events
- Assist in curriculum development, teaching, and discipleship groups
- Support volunteer recruitment, training, and encouragement
- Build relationships with kids and families to point them to Christ
- Maintain ministry materials and help create a welcoming, safe environment
- Contribute to team collaboration, planning, and outreach
- Follow a personalized development plan created specifically for your unique gifts, needs, and calling
- Read books and participate in guided learning assignments to help prepare you for ministry
What We’re Looking For:
- A spiritually mature believer with a deep love for Jesus
- A member or active participant in a Southern Baptist church
- Teachable, dependable, servant-hearted, and joyfully mission-driven
- Someone with a desire to grow in vocational ministry and help make disciples
- A completed Bachelor’s degree (required for seminary degree participation)
- Ministry experience is helpful but not required
