Tag & Title Clerk (Part-time)

The Liberty County Tax Commissioner's Office is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-time Tag & Title Clerk. The successful candidate will possess the qualities of professionalism, integrity, positive work ethic, and a passion for service.

JOB SUMMARY

This position provides customer service in processing documentation and payments for motor vehicle tags and registrations at the Tax Commissioner's Office.

MAJOR DUTIES

1. Reviews and processes tag and title registrations and applications.
2. Reviews insurance information and issues decals and metal plates.
3. Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
4. Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
5. Processes insurance suspensions.
6. Processes handicap parking permit applications.
7. Processes exemption forms for military, law enforcement, etc.
8. Adds and/or removes lienholders from titles.
9. Responds to requests for information on vehicle tags, decals, titles, and registration.
10. Issues receipts for payments and balances collected fees.
11. Maintains files and records.
12. Indexes and files tags, decals, tag applications, registration forms, etc.; issues special plates.
13. Examines and returns incomplete or incorrect applications.
14. Calculates and collects ad valorem tax as appropriate.
15. Provides information to law enforcement as requested.
16. Maintains and balances cash drawer.
17. Performs related duties.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

1. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
2. Knowledge of office policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of state tag and title laws.
4. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
5. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
6. Skill in the use of such office equipment as a calculator, facsimile machine, copier, typewriter, and computer.
7. Skill in providing excellent customer service.
8. Skill in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
• The work is typically performed in an office.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one (1) year of related experience required.

BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday for 6 hours/day during business hours with a 30-minute lunch break. Business hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This is a part-time position with no benefits.
