Talent Sourcer (Part-Time)


Note: This is a remote, part-time, paid opportunity. Compensation is $20/hour, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.

 

Help us grow a mission-driven newsroom by finding the people who will power bold, independent journalism.

We’re looking for a seasoned Talent Sourcer to connect our mission with high-impact talent. This isn’t an entry-level role — we need someone who can hit the ground running, understands where to find the right people, and brings proactive energy to building pipelines and partnerships. WhoWhatWhy is a nonprofit investigative news organization dedicated to exposing the deeper truths behind today’s most important issues. We are fiercely independent and 100% mission-driven — powered by a collaborative mix of skilled volunteers and a lean core staff. Our work spans political accountability, social justice, climate change, disinformation, and more. Here, you won’t just fill roles — you’ll help build a movement.

 

About the Role

As the Talent Sourcer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our team. You’ll work alongside hiring managers and recruiters to develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, build relationships with candidates and partners, and uncover incredible talent across platforms and communities.

As the Talent Sourcer, you will:

  • Partner with hiring teams to understand role requirements and identify ideal candidate profiles
  • Proactively source candidates across platforms including LinkedIn, Slack communities, job boards, alumni groups, and social networks
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for both immediate and future hiring needs
  • Forge connections with university career centers, student orgs, nonprofits, and community networks
  • Draft compelling outreach messages that reflect our mission and values
  • Recommend new sourcing tools, trends, and approaches to expand our reach
  • Track outreach and candidate engagement in sourcing tools and documentation
  • Collaborate with recruiters and HR to ensure seamless candidate handoffs
 

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–4 years of direct experience in sourcing, recruiting coordination, or talent acquisition
  • Strong research skills and creativity in finding candidates in nontraditional places
  • Excellent written communication skills for outreach and relationship-building
  • Experience using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, Airtable, job boards, or CRMs
  • A proactive mindset, comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
  • Strong sense of discretion and professionalism when dealing with candidate information
  • Deep interest in values-aligned, mission-focused work

This is not a training-ground role. We need someone who’s confident, resourceful, and ready to take initiative.
