Tax and Compliance Assistant - Student

Regular Part-Time, Non-Exempt

$12 per hour

Actively hiring for Summer 2025

• Eligible to continue employment part-time after Summer 2025
• Students are eligible to work up to 40 hours/week during the summer, based on departmental needs. Preference given to students eligible to work a minimum of 20hrs/week.
• Ability to commit a minimum of 12hrs/week during the school year, with a preference of 20hrs/week.

We are searching for a part-time student to join our Accounting team! This position provides general accounting assistance to the accounting department as directed.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Assist with 990 tax preparation and state solicitation filings.
2. Assist with internal audits to include quarterly testing of pledge receivables and contribution receipts.
3. Assist with trust accounting activities to include trust entries, asset allocation, income tax return preparation including work paper preparation.
4. Assist with fund set-up in various software systems.
5. Assist with departmental imaging as requested.
6. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in coursework at Kansas State University and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, practices and procedures
• Experience working in Microsoft Access or other database software
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work with numbers while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record

Desired skills and experience:

• Experience in account reconciliation
• Minimum of two years accounting or finance coursework
• Inquisitive about the nature of core job responsibilities. Not afraid to ask questions for clarification purposes
• Task oriented. Ability to work through distractions.
