Teacher Assistant

As a YMCA Preschool Teacher Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting the Preschool

Teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children. Your

dedication, patience, and enthusiasm for early childhood education will contribute to the overall

success of our preschool program.

The Preschool Teacher Assistant will meet the qualifications set forth by the YMCA of South

Hampton Roads and the Virginia Department of Education, Division of Child Care Health and

Safety. Minimum qualifications include:

1. Shall be at least 16 years of age
2. Shall work under the supervision of an individual qualified to be a Program Lead.
3. Staff shall be in good character and reputation
4. CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
5. Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks
6. Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills appropriate for interacting with children required
7. Ability to be on time, every time for scheduled shifts required
8. Ability to work at various program locations preferred
9. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
