We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate assistant teacher to join our high-energy team! The Mother’s Day Out (MDO) Assistant Teacher will assist the teacher and work under the direction of the MDO Coordinator to lead, grow, and direct MDO for pre-K students.
Hours
This part-time position works from 8:30 to 3:00 Monday through Thursday (MDO class days), with additional prep time during the week. The MDO schedule is aligned with the MISD school year schedule and is not offered during the summer months.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist children in the fundamentals needed to start kindergarten successfully, including but not limited to colors, numbers, letters, and positive classroom discipline.
- Maintain a calm, loving, child-centered atmosphere in our classrooms that is conducive to learning.
- Honor, serve, and show respect to our families, their children, and members of the childcare team.
- Attend MDO staff/training meetings as required.
- Maintain required health/safety training credentials.
Qualifications
- Profess Jesus Christ as Savior and lead by His example: in word and deed with biblical teaching
- Attend one regular church service a week.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience teaching a preschool curriculum is preferred
- Know the care required for the ages of children with whom you are working and be physically able to hold, carry, and lift small children.
- Have current CPR and first aid training, and/or be willing to get certified at the time of hire.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check administered by the church.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- You must have the ability to bend, stoop, and run repeatedly, as well as lift and carry children weighing up to 50 pounds.
