Teller Job Description/RRE

Role: Teller II

Key Functions:

  1. Teller 1 responsibilities, plus:
  2. ATM Service & Support
  3. New account opening
  4. ASB Employee

Teller 1 Responsibilities

Role: Daily Transactions

Responsibilities:

  • Complete deposits, withdrawals, payments, change orders, cashier’s checks, and transfers for customers.
  • Ensure transactions are in a format acceptable for processing.
  • Understand and follow internal policies and transaction limits.
  • Understand and comply with all banking regulations.  
  • Complete daily mailed transactions and dual-control night drop deposits and change orders.
  • Complete all regulatory reporting in a timely manner.

Expectations:  

  • Complete customer transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adhere to all internal policies and transaction limits.
  • Stop and ask a supervisor before completing a transaction that you think may be outside of your limits or is not compliant with regulations.
  • File and report OFAC and CTR paperwork properly.
  • File closed account folders in the proper location.
  • Balance drawer with no offages daily

Role: Customer Service 

Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and voicemails.
  • Assist customers in person and over the phone with issues pertaining to online banking, mobile banking, and general account questions, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable on ASB products and services.
  • Refer products and services to customers to strengthen their banking relationship with ASB.

Expectations:  

  • Answer all questions to the best of the teller’s ability, asking for assistance from other coworkers/departments as needed.
  • Greet customers as they walk in the door.
  • Answer the phone in fewer than three rings.
  • Maintain current, correct log ins for all teller-related systems to quickly assist customers.
  • Comply with all regulations, bank policies, and procedures to manage risk related to customer transactions.

Role: ASB Employee 

Responsibilities:

  • Practice ASB Core Values. 
  • Actively participate in L10 meetings and All Employee meetings.
  • Positively represent ASB in the community.
  • Complete assigned training.
  • Follow ASB policies and practices.

Expectations:  

  • Follow ASB policies.
  • Complete assigned training on time.
  • Be a professional, reliable team member and display a positive attitude. 
  • Be an example of ASB’s core values.
  • Contribute to the success of the retail team and ASB.

Teller 2 Additional Responsibilities

Role: ATM Service & Support

Responsibilities:

  • Daily balancing of the ATM and weekly (or as needed) cash replenishment.
  • Troubleshooting basic ATM issues.
  • Retrieving forgotten debit cards.

Expectations:  

  • ATM balancing is done at or around 2:00 pm daily and the balance sheets are filed with Operations Team. The ATM is filled every Thursday morning unless needed sooner.
  • Informing the Teller Supervisor if there is an ATM issue that cannot be resolved so that Diebold can be contacted for further assistance.

  

Role: New account opening

Responsibilities:

  • Open new and maintain existing consumer accounts, certificates of deposit and other bank products
  • Acquire full knowledge of bank products and services
  • Prepare account documents that result in minimal errors; 
  • Create and maintain documentation files for future reference
  • Meet with customers to determine their financial needs
  • Create a culture of top-notch customer service and train to these standards.
  • Have working knowledge of common account types and the documentation required for set up
  • Have working knowledge of banking regulations as well as bank specific policies and procedures 

Expectations:

  • Follow defined account documentation polices and procedures
  • Comply with all regulations, bank policies, and procedures to manage risk related to customer transactions.
  • Provide a customer experience reflective of ASB’s core values.
  • Raise compliance issues in a timely manner and notify the BSA officer of any required reporting immediately.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent and customer service skills.
  • 1-3 years of banking experience, including opening/maintaining consumer accounts
  • Knowledge of bank operating procedures, practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use tact and diplomacy; maintain professional dress and demeanor.
  • Ability to use considerable judgment and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
  • All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment background and credit check.

Availability

Availability to work any shift between the operating hours of 8:45AM to 5:15PM Monday through Friday and between 8:30AM to12:00PM on rotating Saturdays. Between 20-30 hours per week.
