Theatre Director (part-time, $17.50-$22.00/hour)

ABOUT US: Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces!  Our Cultural Arts Department is home to our outstanding theatre program which hosts various productions throughout the year.

JOB SUMMARY: The Director collaborates with the production team to develop theatrical concepts and interpretations that align with the goals and values of the Schaumburg Park District. They plan and lead auditions and casting sessions and collaborate with the creative team to select participants for productions. The Director leads rehearsals and provides staging and acting guidance to performers. They create the rehearsal calendar and are the primary point of contact for participants and their guardians. The Director will also provide ongoing support and feedback to performers and production team, helping them develop their skills and confidence while prioritizing health and wellness. This position starts in September 2025 and may be asked to continue for future productions. Attendance is expected at all tech rehearsals and opening night.

LOCATION: Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience as a Director or similar role in theatre required, preferably in a community or educational setting. A successful candidate will be reliable and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Knowledge of theatre production process is expected.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field desirable.

SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a part-time position with varying hours. Schedule will mostly be weekday evenings with some weekend and daytime hours as need. Pay rate is $17.50-$22.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
