JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and Medical Director, responsible for care and safety of patients undergoing ultrasound procedures; use and knowledge of ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic ultrasound images of the abdomen, pelvis, fetus, thyroid, breast, extremities, and other procedures for diagnosis of disorders and diseases.

DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:

The Department of Radiology at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is a consultative service that will provide services in the following categories: diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiography, MRI, bone density and mammography. The department offers services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to inpatients, outpatients and emergency room patients of all ages. Whereas x-ray procedures constitute the majority of our service, we also provide related quality control (including protecting patients and staff from harmful radiation), quality assurance monitoring and evaluation, marketing and continuing education of staff and patients. Radiology is comprised of licensed technologists, certified and licensed nuclear medicine technologists, secretarial staff and licensed radiologists. We render reports of all or our imaging studies to referring physicians within 24 to 36 hours of completion of the exam.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 

  • Graduate of an A.M.A. approved allied health program.
  • Successful completion of Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • If registry eligible, must become registered within one year of hire.

Experience: 

  • One year of clinical experience in abdominal, ob-gyn, small parts and/or vascular imaging required.

Licensure/Certification: 

  • RDMS
  • Certified in Abdominal and OB preferred
  • Certification in multiple specialties preferred.
  • Certified in CPR

Mental Efforts: 

  • Ability to work within a limited space and in bright and low lighted examination rooms.
  • Ability to see objects closely, hear normal sounds with some background noise.
  • Environment & Working Conditions: Potential for exposure to electrical hazards, electromagnetic radiation as in CRT’s (VDT’s).
  • Potential for exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

OSHA CATEGORY

  • OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155 

In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
