Job Description - Unit Coordinator - Infusion - Limited Part time

Description

St. Croix Health is looking for a limited part-time (0.2 FTE) Unit Coordinator to join our InfusionTeam!This position will work day shifts, two days/pay period and fill in for sick and vacation coverage.  Will work in both St. Croix Falls and Frederic locations. 

The Infusion Services Unit Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions to support the providers and patient care staff as well as assisting with patient care. This position enters patient calls/messages into the Electronic Medical Record database, ensure patient medical records and information that is needed is available and documented, schedules patient appointments, registers patients, and prepares applicable medical record forms. The Infusion Services Unit Coordinator answers phone calls and relays messages to care team members and other resources necessary for patient care. This position is responsible for the coordination of prior authorization for medication orders that are administered in the Infusion Centers. This position will also provide basic nursing care to patients, including obtaining/monitoring vitals with medical equipment, IV removals, and toileting. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  

1. Coordinates activities of Care Unit to support provider and patient care staff including monitoring schedules, is aware of add-ons, cancellations, no shows and overbooks. 

  • Schedules are up to date and accurate, changes are made in a timely manner, and using the proper communication methods 
  • Effectively uses communication systems for both routine and emergency transactions and communications
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental levels and cultural differences of population served
  • Ensures patient benefits are up to date
  • Works closely with pharmacy to ensure drugs are available for scheduled patients
  • Schedules patients for any testing, referrals or follow up appointments that are needed

2. Orders and maintains adequate stock of office supplies and other supplies needed for patient care. 

  • Stock is maintained appropriately and is always available to patient care staff

3. Performs telephone, refills and order encounters or direct communication with care team in a timely fashion to meet patient needs including requesting/obtaining patient reports as necessary. 

  • Patient needs are met in a timely manner 
  • Effectively uses communication systems for both routine and emergency transactions and communications.

Requirements

Education & Licensure:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; and,
  • Current WI Nurse Aide registry required
  • BLS certification required

Experience:

  • Prior CNA experience preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities
  • General knowledge of healthcare service delivery
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision and is self-motivated
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions/instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse people
  • Ability to deal effectively and assertively with a broad range of people under varying pressure situations
  • Have general knowledge of computer skills
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
