Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Nurse (RN) to join our team at an Office-Based Surgery Center. The OR Nurse will be responsible for providing direct nursing care in the intraoperative phase of the surgical experience. This includes preparing the OR, assisting during procedures, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment throughout surgery. The ideal candidate will be experienced in outpatient surgical settings and committed to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing same-day procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and informed consent in compliance with safety protocols
• Collaborate with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists
• Assist during surgical procedures by anticipating surgeon’s needs and maintaining sterile technique
• Monitor patient’s condition throughout the procedure and respond to emergencies if needed
• Maintain accurate intraoperative records and documentation
• Adhere to infection control and OSHA regulations
• Participate in room turnover, including instrument cleaning, restocking, and equipment checks
• Maintain open and professional communication with patients and families as needed
• Accountable for coordinating nursing care, which includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
• Follows the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice as a foundation for RN practice.
Direct Patient Care Responsibilities:
• Review patient charts, schedules, medical records, and other documentation.
• Obtain medical records, lab results, diagnostic study results, and other pertinent information as needed.
• Inspect the physical care environment to ensure it is therapeutic, sanitary, and fully stocked with medical supplies and functional equipment.
• Ensure the availability of appropriate medications, supplies, equipment, and personnel to complete scheduled interactions.
• Communicate with internal and external resources to procure necessary supplies and information.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians and other care providers.
• Administering IVs.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
• Preparing and maintaining all aspects of the perioperative environment.
• Cultivating a nurturing atmosphere characterized by courtesy, compassion, respect, empathy, dignity, and optimism in all interpersonal interactions.
• Measuring, reporting, and recording vital signs.
• Obtaining and documenting relevant patient information related to medical history.
• Verifying the accuracy of recorded and reported patient information.
• Communicating effectively with patients, providers, and ancillary staff to maintain patient flow.
• Collecting urine specimens and performing pregnancy tests as necessary.
• Providing patient education through written and oral communication or other means as directed by providers.
• Reporting, documenting, and recording relevant information regarding the patient’s condition, treatment, expectations, and progress.
Work Environment:
• Fast-paced Office-based surgery center
• May require rotating shifts, including early mornings
• Ability to lift, move, and position patients and equipment
• Monday–Friday schedule, with no nights, weekends, or holidays
• Frequent standing, lifting, and movement required in the OR setting
Requirements
• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
• License: Current and unrestricted RN license in FL or MULTI STATE
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS required
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of operating room or perioperative nursing experience in an outpatient or ambulatory surgery setting preferred

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with office-based surgical procedures and workflow
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
