Volunteer Coordinator

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, a 5-Star rated Continuing Care Retirement Community in Central VA is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our Home Health/Hospice team! 

Part-time position available; candidate will need to have flexibility to work flexible hours around 24 hours per week with varying days and times.

The Volunteer Coordinator, who is a designated staff member, will exhibit knowledge and an understanding of the Hospice philosophy and will possess the ability to supervise and maintain a volunteer program.

Responsible for planning, organizing, documenting, and directing the comprehensive volunteer services program. Coordination duties include, but are not limited to:

On-going recruiting and training of sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet the needs of patients/families regardless of race, gender, age, creed, handicap, national origin, or sexual orientation. Provide support, supervision and evaluation of volunteers. Coordinate the utilization of volunteers with other members of the IDG. Review and revise written volunteer policies/procedures, in accordance with Hospice program regulations. Document services achieved through the use of volunteers, including the type of service and the time worked.

• Communication skills.
• Family dynamics, coping mechanisms, and psychological issues surrounding terminal illness, death, and bereavement.
• Infection control precautions.
• Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous Volunteer and/or Hospice experience preferred.
