Job Summary: Worm farming requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual to manage the care, breeding, and productivity of composting worms. The Worm Farmer plays a key role in sustainable waste management and soil enrichment by maintaining healthy worm colonies and processing organic material into nutrient-rich castings.
Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain worm bins or beds, ensuring optimal temperature, moisture, and pH levels
Feed worms waste, avoiding harmful materials
Monitor worm health, reproduction rates, and population density
Harvest and package worm castings for sale or use
Breed and separate worms for resale
Clean and repair equipment, bins, and farming areas
Track data on worm production and compost output
Educate others about the benefits of vermicompost
Qualifications:
Experience in agriculture, composting, or animal care preferred (not required)
Strong attention to detail and observation skills
Ability to work independently and in outdoor/greenhouse environments
Physical ability to lift, bend, and handle soil and organic matter
Passion for sustainability, soil health, and eco-friendly farming practices
Preferred Skills:
Sales or customer service experience
Knowledge of soil science or organic gardening
Experience with micro-enterprise or nonprofit sustainability models
