X-Cel Gymnastics Head Coach

JOB TITLE: X-Cel Head Coach (Part Time)

SUMMARY

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking an X-Cel Gymnastics Team Head Coach to take on all duties associated with a head coach role. Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center, Gymnastics Wing.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Candidate should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the sport of Competitive Artistic or Womens’ Gymnastics and 2 to 5 years of coaching experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be in good standing with USA Gymnastics.


• Ability to make lesson plans, teach, and spot all skill levels from X-Cel Bronze to Level 9.


• Must be 21 years of age, have reliable transportation and child care.


• Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.


• Holds a current driver’s license and can successfully complete a background check.

ESSENTIAL DUITES AND REPONSIBILITES include the following:

• Acts as an intermediary facilitating communication among parents, the coordinator, and peers.


• Organize athletes levels and manage all registration for meets through USAG.


• Communicate with other gym managers for meet registration process.


• Maintain practice and meet schedule.

COMMUNICATION – VERBAL AND WRITTEN

A clear communicator who shares information with supervisor, team-members, and others within the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the whole organization. Must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in a pleasant and courteous manner, handle differences of opinion in a businesslike fashion, follow instructions conscientiously, and function as a team member, helping the group effort. Must communicate expectations and procedures clearly to team members to maintain smooth operations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES, REQUIREMENTS, VISUAL ACUITY, AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Practices are held in a temperature-controlled facility.

Tasks require standing for long periods of time, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects that weigh up to 125 pounds on a regular basis. Work is high paced at times, must be able to perform in a busy environment. Physical demands listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• Physically spotting athletes on any and all skills from Level Bronze to Level 9


• Must be able to adjust equipment such as bars, vault, and beam with efficiency and ease.


• Must be able to move mats and equipment as needed for practice.
