YMCA Lifeguard - Flexible Schedule

The YMCA of Downtown Manchester is seeking Lifeguards to join our supportive team creating positive impacts in our community.  This is an opportunity for leaders looking to build key skills, boost a resume and make a difference in the lives of others.  Training and FREE certification courses are available for those not yet certified.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Lifeguards must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and regulations, prepare records and reports, and provide assistance whenever needed.  Lifeguards provide the safest possible environment for YMCA members and participants in the pool area.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with the members and other staff.
• Understand and apply safety rules and policies for the aquatics area.
• Conduct and maintain accurate records including chemical testing, bather loads, accident reports.
• Properly dressed and on deck ready to work prior to scheduled start time.
• Responsible for securing substitutes to cover scheduled shifts in the case of an absence.  Report coverage to supervisor.
• Utilize and carry proper safety equipment at all times.
• Adequately react and respond to emergencies or skill audits.
• Ensure the pool is always secure.
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.

Schedule & Pay:

Flexible part-time hours

Preferred availability is for weekends within the hours of Saturday 7:00a - 4:00p and Sunday 8:00a - 1:00p

Qualifications:

• Minimum age of 15
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, O2
• Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding
• Ability to maintain or obtain certifications - level of physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA or Red Cross standards.
